All Saints Rectors

Five prior rectors have served the All Saints congregation: The Rev. Gordon Jones, The Rev. Edward Roth, The Rev. William Eddy, The Rev. Edward Rice and The Rev. Caroline Stacey. In the Fall of 2007, Rev. Katherine “Kit” Carlson accepted our call to be the next rector of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Rev. Carlson began her tenure in February 2007. She comes to All Saints from Church of the Ascension in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where she was associate rector, then interim rector following the rector's retirement. She served Ascension for more than six years, following her graduation from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2000. While at Ascension, she oversaw the development of three additional worship services in the renovated historic chapel, added a labyrinth and centering prayer ministry and an annual silent retreat.

She is definitely not a silent person, however. Kit loves almost every kind of music and enjoys singing and playing the cello. She loves the outdoors, especially the Copper Country of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and she likes camping, boating and backpacking. She spent two undergraduate years at MSU (where she worshipped with both All Saints and Canterbury-MSU), and the second two years at University of Florida (Go Gators!), where she met her husband, Wendell Lynch. They have been married since 1980 and have two almost-grown children, Andrew and Katie Carlson-Lynch.

Prior to becoming a priest, Kit was a journalist, freelance writer, book author, community coordinator for an au pair program, editor of Discovery Channel's print magazine, marketing director for a long-term care company, and a stay-at-home mom. She is grateful to God for guiding her to put all that experience to good work in one single occupation.

About the Staff

All Saints employs staff members who assist in running and maintaining the parish, the church programs, and the building and grounds. This staff includes employees who are paid on either a salaried or an hourly basis and stipendiary staff members who receive a modest stipend for their work.

Besides the Rector, the paid staff comprises the Minister of Music (second from top right), the Office Administrator, Susie Pearson (third from top right), and the Sexton, Scott Hoffman (fourth from top right). The stipendiary staff includes the Church School Coordinator, the Assistant Treasurer, and the Financial Secretary.

Michael Crouch is All Saint's Minister of Music (organist and choral director) for all music at parish services. He directs the choirs, maintains music supplies, and supervises maintenance of the parish's musical instruments.

The Office Administrator assists and supports the Rector in the day-to-day operation of the parish, maintains the parish calendar, works with committees and other groups that use the building to coordinate the scheduling of events and performs secretarial work for the parish.
